Settlement & cash-flow simulator
Sales happen every day; cash arrives on the rail’s schedule. Bank rails wait for business days, so a Friday card sale can be Tuesday cash. Compare two payment mixes against payroll, supplier runs and rent.

Calendar and sales
Money going out
Mix A (today)
Mix B (proposed)
Rail settlement and fees
Credit card (online)
Blended processor rate for card-not-present sales. Eligible small businesses may see lower interchange since October 19, 2024; your statement shows what you actually pay.
Interac e-Transfer for business
Per-transfer business fee varies by bank and plan. Domestic payers with Canadian bank accounts only.
EFT / pre-authorized debit
Batch bank payments. Returns (NSF, stopped payments) behave like disputes in this model.
Wire transfer
Incoming wire fee charged to the recipient; intermediary bank deductions can add more on international wires.
USD stablecoin (self-hosted wallet)
A USD-referenced token: a CAD business converts every payment to CAD. On-chain transfer is fast; the bank withdrawal sets settlement.
Native crypto-asset via payment processor
Price moves between payment and conversion create exposure unless the processor converts instantly.
Cash balance by day
Fees in period: mix A $2,886, mix B $2,335. Weekends delay bank-rail settlement; statutory holidays add further delays that this model does not include. Fees here assume domestic payers; cross-border costs are in the cost comparison.
Money in transit
Peak in transit: mix A $4,767, mix B $4,210. This is working capital your business has earned but cannot spend yet.

A stablecoin transfer can confirm in minutes, but if you convert to CAD the bank withdrawal still runs on business days. The rail’s settlement days should describe when CAD is usable in your account. Read working capital and settlement time and Canada’s Real-Time Rail.
